PR publications or "PR pubs" are the different mediums or forms of media that a PR professional can use to present their strategic writing within. Some of the PR pubs strategies and techniques that we've learned to utilize in this course (JMC 3433-001) are:

- basic stationery packages (including a business card, envelope, and letterhead)

- competitive analyses

- segmenting stakeholders matrices

- social media PR posts

- newsletters

These tools can be used to promote an organization by cohesively and professionally presenting the company to potential stakeholders and its other audiences. Competitive analyses can be used to study an organization's competitors and show how to more effectively advertise within their market. When creating quick PR publications with an early deadline, a tip that I learned helped me to move faster was using written content that my assigned company had already produced, whether that be in their press releases or their website. I have been fine-tuning my PR writing skills in my PR writing course (JMC 3423-003), but the focus of PR pubs was creating those media graphics that help portray written content more artistically. We often used both Adobe InDesign and Photoshop in this course, but in a pinch, Canva is a great resource to easily and quickly create graphics.

The importance of knowing your audience and targeting them through content-specific publications is what makes PR pubs effective and successful. A PR professional can be the most amazing writer, but without the elements of design, their message could be less powerful. I think that the most important element of design is space because if a content creator does not correctly spatially position the most important part of their message, it could be overlooked or missed by its viewers. All of the elements of design teamed with knowing your audience come together to produce strong PR publications.
